I've had the opportunity to fill in part-time as photojournalism instructor this semester at Point Loma Nazarene University when the usual instructor, Dave Gatley, is away. It's been a very rewarding experience, and I hope the students feel the same way.
This week the students had to shoot a surprise assignment - they showed up for class and were given an assignment to shoot a mock press conference in an adjacent room. I stressed the deadline nature of the assignment and ushered the students into the next room for their faux presser.
All the information the students were given was fake, but they were asked to submit that information on their captioned photos as if it were an actual event. See for yourself, at the end of the video, how they did. My thanks to friends and colleagues Howard Lipin and Fred Greaves for playing their roles so well.

I'll say it again: wish I had an instructor like you when I was taking photo! Awesome. And hats off to Howie and Fred! =)
David, this is hilarious!! Reminds me of the scene in Yes Man with the jogging photographers.
Thanks, you two. I owe Howard and Fred great big kudos for this. They pulled out all the stops, and the students loved it.
